The Scoop

The Scoop in September!

August was a month filled with media attention, a flavor contest, and more!!

ScoopAble Ice Cream in the news!

ScoopAble broke into the Social Media scene when Lil'Blondie, aka Aaron Westendorf, got the attention of Hilarious Scales, aka Hood News 75. One video has been seen over 100K times with Aaron's reaction to talking to Hilarious Scales on TikTok live. His appearance and sharing of his story, moved Hilarious Scales to invite several local influencers to ScoopAble! We had an incredible day with Hilarious Scales, Mullet Review, Dude it's Casey, HATZ Review, and the Cincinnati Ghostbusters.

Aaron was able to shoot some videos with them, recieved tickets to the Bengals game, and got to live out his dream of being a social media influencer. If you are not following him already, he would love more followers on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.

Simultaneously, a parent of another scooper posted about how much they appreciate ScoopAble and the employment opportunity it gave her son, Simon. This caught the attention of Adam Clements, Channel 12.

Employee's of the month!

We are catching up from the summer craziness and this is our first Scoop Newsletter, so we need to recognize past and current employee's of the month. Choosing only one employee of the month, is like choosing the best ScoopAble Ice Cream. Just because others were not chosen that month, it doesn't mean they are not amazing.

July's employee of the month was Veronica. Veronica's favorite flavor of ScoopAble Ice Cream is Strawberry and her favorite color is pink. In May, Veronica graduated high school. She is an original hire with a fun and respectful personality. She really enjoys serving customers and adding all the toppings. Veronica's scoop skills and hard work earned her the first ScoopAble employee of the month.

The August employee of the month is Iver. Iver's favorite ScoopAble Ice Cream flavor is chocolate. Iver is also an original hire with the gift of communicating without verbal words. He welcomes everyone with a smile. Iver is in a competitive culinary program in his school. Iver has been loyal and a very hard worker and will complete anything we ask of him to do around the shop.

The August Empoyee of the month is Aaron! Aaron the entertainer makes everyone's customer service experience special. You may be entertained by dancing, discussing sports, or just asking how your day is going. Aaron will make a postive impression on your day. Aaron takes customer service to his own level and we are so lucky to have him on our team. If you ask Aaron his favorite flavor, he will likely tell you whatever sorbet (non-dairy) flavors we have that day.

The inside scoop from Amy

Hello friends!

Wow! I am humbled by the response to the last newsletter and the attention we received in August! Thank you!!! We made so much progress because of the support of our amazing employees and customers. Employing individuals with disabilities does some with some extra challenges, but the benefits far outweigh those challenges.

The improvement in August was a relief, but we still are going into the colder months and have to keep this trend going. I won't let the employees down and they won't let me down. Your support is everything to us. If you would like to provide extra support, we do accept donations or help to fill our Amazon wish list.

The week before the big shift with the media influence, Aaron shared with me that if he wins a lot of money, he will give me half of it for ScoopAble to stay open. Our employees are not sheltered from the reality that customers are needed to make our business work. I was touched by his genuine concern, but also his gratitude and generosity. I am blessed to have Aaron as a loyal and outgoing employee.

I was so proud of Simon who was the spotlight of a story shared on the news. Being on camera is not easy for him or his mom, much less to share vulnerable and personal challenges. Simon said he wouldn't do it for just anything, but for ScoopAble, it was worth it. In the interview he was asked what ScoopAble means to him. He stated, "It's everything."

I don't know of any other restaurant where the majority of the employees are even close to as loyal and appreciative as the employees at ScoopAble. How lucky I am to have a business where I can share their gifts along with the joy of ice cream with the community. Thank you for making a difference with us.

Have a sweet day!

Amy
