ScoopAble’s FAQ’s

Have questions about ScoopAble Ice Cream? Whether you want to learn more about our homemade flavors, our mission to empower individuals with disabilities, or how you can support us, you’ll find all the answers right here. Dive into our frequently asked questions to discover what makes ScoopAble Ice Cream so special!

Q: Where do you get your ice cream from? Is the ice cream really all made here?

A: Every flavor of ice cream is made in the kitchen at ScoopAble Ice Cream. We make every flavor and serve small-batch premium ice cream. Yes! We really do make it here. It is made by the owner, Amy, and a few trained employees and volunteers. Most of the ice cream on display was made within the week it is served. That’s a freshness you can taste. You will also notice the smoother texture than you get at the grocery store. We use high quality products and only add natural food colors in the process. There can be artificial food coloring added that are part of products we don’t make at the store.

We also make the waffle cones in the store! When you walk in, you notice the incredible smell of fresh waffle cones.

Q: Where are you located?

A: 6405 Branch Hill Guinea Pike, Loveland, OH 45140. Near the Branch Hill Kroger, next door to Mezedes.

Q: What products and flavors do you have?

A: Our product list is always growing. We offer 16 flavors in the dipping cabinet. A few are rotating flavors for the season. You can find all of the current products and flavors here.

Q: When did you open?

A: We opened the doors in May of 2025.

Q: Is ScoopAble part of a franchise?

A: No, it is the only store. The owner (Amy) envisioned, researched, and developed the business plan and put it into action. There are other stores with a similar concept, but we are the only ScoopAble Ice Cream.

Q: How is buiness going?

A: We love that you care so much about the sustainability. Honest answer, it’s been a rough start. We had a difficult first summer and are going into the colder months. We believe that ice cream can be part of every season, especially because we are bringing more than just amazing ice cream. We create a one-of-a-kind, heartwarming experience. We are working hard to keep things running. The stress is high and every customer is appreciated. It is sales that makes this machine work. If you love our ice cream and our experience, please share it with others! Word of mouth is best advertisement and complement. If you have time, leave a review on Google, Facebook, and other review platforms.

Q: Do you allow pets?

A: The health department does not allow pets, other than service animals, in food establishments. We do, however, welcome dogs and pets in the outside seating area. We sell Brewhaus Dog Bones and even have at least one flavor of dog ice cream. We’ve heard great reviews from dog owners.

Q: Are you open all year?

A: Yes, we are open all year round. We believe that ice cream should not be limited to a season. It’s great all year and there are so many people that enjoy it all year. We have recently added custom cakes to our offerings. We aim to be the destination for every birthday cake and other celebrations. Make your birthday, holiday, or event even more special and order a ScoopAble custom cake or pie!

Q: What made you (Amy) want to open an ice cream shop that employs individuals with disabilities?

A: Amy has three kids, two with disabilities, Down syndrome and Autism. When dreaming about an inclusive world and community, it included employment for individuals with disabilities. When this population is facing an 80% unemployment rate, but they have marketable skills, it only makes sense to bring two great things together, ice cream and individuals with disabilities.

Amy has a lot of great memories that involve ice cream. The idea that ice cream is desirable to kids, makes it even better. At ScoopAble we are creating positive memories that naturally involve inclusion and happiness. What could be any better? We don’t just talk the talk, we are demonstrating to the younger generation the value of an inclusive community.

Amy’s professional journey started as an Ohio State Trooper. Amy was a Trooper for 15 years. She went from serving citations and the community through law enforcement to serving smiles and the community through ice cream. She enjoys creating opportunities for individuals that are often overlooked.

Q: What is the impact you are making?

A: We can’t possibly share every story and every impact, but we can share a taste of it:

  1. A large number of our customers have disabilities themselves. Their faces light up when they walk in. Even before they come in, they take pictures in front of the building to mark the event. Some express being greateful, happy or excited, and many ask about employment (it’s own FAQ). The pride in the family and friends of customers and employees are frequently demonstrated.

  2. For our employees, many didn’t have many chances to work a real job. When calling to let them know they were getting the job, there was joy in tears, joy in silence and shock, and joy in their verbal responses. Comments like, “This is my first real job”, “I’m so excited,” or just proudly accepting the position. Even though it was a phone call, the smiles and joy could be felt. After starting the job, many have surprised their caretakers and parents in what they can do. They developed relationships with coworkers, learned new skills, and polished up on old skills. They have learned and grown so much. ScoopAble has grown with them.

  3. Parents of kids with disabilities that bring their children in are noticeably positively impacted by seeing the possibilities in their child. The parents proudly tell their kids; you can work here one day. The importance of experiencing this kind of inclusion at a young age is huge for everyone involved. Some kids may not have the pleasure of having a relationship with a grown adult with disabilities, but they do at ScoopAble. The natural interaction with the customers gives our Scoopers a chance to be role models and leaders.

  4. Impact by the numbers:

    1. Open - 5 months

    2. Field Trips - 5 amazing groups with disabilities

    3. Overall employees - 13 employees, 9 of those with a disability

    4. Current employees - 11 employed, 7 of those with a disability

    5. Employment waitlist - 46

    6. Donated to disability nonprofits - $3,475

    7. Scoops scooped - over 15,000

    8. Worked hours for employees with disabilities - over 3,000

    9. Customer transactions - 4,876

Q: How do I apply to be a Scooper?

A: Our application is online on the website here. After you complete the application, you will be placed on the waitlist and we will reach out when there is a need to fill. The process does include an interview.

Q: We love what you’re doing! How can I help?

A: Thank you! We have a few ways you can help:

  1. Share all the postive experiences and memories you make at ScoopAble any way you can. It is more likely that someone will try something new if they hear about a positive experience or recommendation from a trusted friend or family member. YOU are our best advertiser!

  2. You can help fill a need through our wish list!

  3. We do accept monetary donations. These donations are used to cover the many expenses to keep the store open, but also the payroll for the employees to have the opportunity to work more hours.

  4. Visit and make a purchase! We are always adding new and fun flavors and items to our menu, so every time you come, there should be something new to try. Most recently, we added custom cakes and pies. You can find the pre-order links on our home page.

As always, THANK YOU! We are incredibly grateful for you.
